Every year I watch “It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown” on television. Even though I own the DVD, I have to watch it when it comes on TV, because it feels like the rest of the world just may be watching it with me. The thing I enjoy most about “It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown” is it takes me back to my childhood.
I love all the characters and their personalities. As an illustrator, I appreciate the simple illustrations with pops of color. (And of course I love the use of the color pink throughout “The Great Pumpkin”). I am “Team Charlie Brown” all the way. And although, I’ve watched the Charlie Brown television special (Thanksgiving and Christmas included) every year, I always find myself waiting with Linus for The Great Pumpkin to show up and always hoping Charlie Brown will not fall for Lucy’s trick to kick the football! And hoping that this may be the year that Charlie Brown will get candy instead of a rock. Have a great day filled with treats and no tricks!

This past Saturday, 20+ talented women gathered to be inspired. They were to learn and grow. Amber asked me to share a little of my story and talk about fear. Hearing tiny bits and pieces of their stories, their struggles and how they perservered was a reminder how different, but similar our lives are. I can’t wait to see what the future holds for each of them. I’m rooting for nothing but good things for them.
Besides meeting all the wonderful women, getting a bag full of treats (see above pic), and learning new things, the cherry on top of the day was receiving this pink bag. As you can see, it’s the simple things that always make me smile.

I just love strawberries. I grew up watching Strawberry Shortcake. I’ve designed strawberry fabric. I consume them daily in my morning green shake. Strawberry cupcakes from this little cupcake place are my favorite. (I’ve had two in the past week). Well, as of today my strawberry party has come to an end . . . at least for awhile. Yesterday, I left the doctors office with news that I have a little allergy towards strawberries, amongst a whole LONG list of other things. I knew about the other things, but not the strawberries. I can’t believe my body doesn’t like something that is pink. So, today I’m honoring my love of strawberries. Specifically strawberry cupcakes. I won’t be eating them for awhile. (On a good note, I found out that one of the few things I’m not allergic to is chocolate).

Hope your weekend is great. Filled with lots of sunshine. I have tons of family coming to town for a graduation. I have to finish up some work projects, but I’m definitely going to squeeze in family time. Enjoy!
