Paper, plastic or your own bag? I would feel guilty every time I was asked this. Thanks to Michelle of Michelle Patterns, I now get smiles from the grocery staff and even a “thank you” for bringing my own bags. A month or so ago, I started using these grocery bags Michelle sewed up from my cord fabric using her pattern.

These sturdy bags are reversible and fit snug in your hand or on your forearm. When I first saw the picture of the pattern, I thought they’d be an oversized bag. But, they’re not, which is great for me. I’m the girl who tries to stuff everything into a big bag, only later to find a red and sore shoulder. Ouch! To make your own grocery bag, head here for Michelle’s pdf pattern. Your groceries will thank you.

Thanks for letting us know they aren’t over-sized. I had been thinking about getting the pattern, but wasn’t sure on the sizing. The pictures with you holding them really help 🙂

I have been making similar ones for years, reversible also, and I add a outside pocket to hold keys, coupons etc. They make great gift bags anytime of year and receiver can then use bag at grocery store, so it is a win-win. I used a plastic grocery bag as my pattern,
