I’ve been trying to plan more inspiration field trips for myself. For several years, I’ve wanted to visit Cheekwood during the Fall. Last week, I was finally able to make it over there. It was jaw-dropping-beautiful. Fall is my favorite season. But, for some reason (maybe it was a very late summer vacation I took in September/October?) made Fall seem less like Fall. It still felt like Summer to me. Anyhow, my little visit to Cheekwood definitely helped cure my confusion with the seasons.
All the colors, pumpkins and mums put me in the Fall mood. My favorite part of the Cheekwood Harvest was the “Mum Explosion.” There were 5,000 chrysanthemums. So gorgeous! I took soooo many pictures and left full of inspiration. If you’re in Nashville, Cheekwood Harvest will be going on through November 1st.
Oh, and for my sewer friends, if you’re looking for a great skirt to make this Fall, try the Madeleine skirt from Victory Patterns. We used Robert Kaufman’s Indigo Denim (which is so soft and comfy) to make this skirt. We even lined the pockets with some of my fabric. It’s the perfect Fall skirt.
