one million pillowcase challenge

American Patchwork and Quilting is hosting a One Million Pillowcase Challenge Blog Hop the entire month of September. They have a challenge to have one million pillowcases donated to local charities. Pretty sweet, right? I was excited when my friends over at Shannon Fabrics asked me to participate. I designed a pillowcase showcasing my Izzy Cuddle prints. Pat Wodskow kindly sewed it up, along with another one. The pillowcase I designed has three things I love about it: rainbow colors, stripes and it’s uber comfy! The perfect little pillow to snuggle up to. I’m donating the pillowcases to a local nursing home.

Sewing Instructions from Pat:

– The Floral Pillowcase with piano keyboard strip was made using pattern #16. The piano keyboard strips were cut 3″ x 11″  and I used a 1/2″ seam allowance. The body was cut 26 1/2″ x 41 1/2″ to accomate the larger seam allowance.

– The Strips Pillowcase was made using the precut strips pattern #26 as our inspiration, but I choose 11- 3 1/2″ strips cut wof. After sewing all of the strips together I trimed the section to 26″ x 41″. This allowed the strips to run verticle around the pillow. Our solid color cuff was cut 11″ x 41″.  All seams were sewn using a 1/2″ seam allowance.
