stripe rehab

January 20, 2011

I have a thing for stripes. I love them. I might need to go to stripe rehab. I was shopping with my sister and grabbed a striped cardigan. “Don’t you have one of those? ” she asked. “Ummm, the one I have is another color” I replied. So, I went home and checked out my closet. And what I found was stripes galore. I have 25 striped shirts. In my defense, not all stripes are the same. There are all types of stripes . . . thick, bold, pinstripe, etc. Then you can have them in all sorts of colors . . . yellow, gray, green, etc.   And if I’m honest, I’ve been thinking of another stripe top I saw this morning, which I’ll probably eventually add to my collection. Like I said, I have a thing for stripes. So, do you have a thing?

I have a thing for red leather purses. ALL my purses are red, and they always have been. It’s so fun to have a “thing”!

I also recently realized I have a thing for stripes! Not sure why but I’m drawn to every shirt, scarf, accessory, etc. in the store that has stripes on it.

those all look fabulous to me! I have a definite tendency toward stripes myself, especially in clothing. Fabric wise, I’m a polka dot girl. 😉

Stripes are great! I was so sad – I found the most beautiful striped scarf at the thrift store. Not a knitted one, but a soft cotton one. It had warm fall tones and different stripe widths. I wore it to work one day – the first time I ever wore it – and noticed on my way into the office that it wasn’t around my neck anymore (this was when it was just beginning to get cool). Never found it.

I go through color moods, but consistently, I have a thing for really striking black and white floral prints. I also have a thing for houndstooth, but in my accessories.

Ashley, Bummer. That is so sad. You never found it? Houndstooth sounds really fun, though. I’ve been wanting to make a houndstooth pencil skirt . . . I even have the fabric, just haven’t gotten around to it.

I have exactly the same problem! And I’ve noticed that my boys seem to wear a lot of stripes too because I buy all their clothes.

Besides jeans and flip-flops? Yoga skirts. They can go casual to dressy with little fuss which is great when you work in theatre like me.

Yes! Stripes are everywhere I turn. It’s not us though, it them. They are hard to resist so why would it be our fault that they try to take over the house 🙂

I’m with you on the stripes! Haven’t counted my collection though.

I like a good stripe, but I always seem to pick up crazy prints in earthy colours like khaki, brown, caramel, rust and mustard
