the truth of the story

October 09, 2012

donktober / ann kelle

I wanted to come clean about something, especially with it being Donktober and all. You see this little fellow in the fabric above? Well, when I drew it, it was my interpretation of a horse. Yes, a horse. But, somehow along the way, his official title became a “donkey.” Anyhow, it’s left me a bit frazzled because I’m now determined to draw a horse that looks like a horse. I sit and stare at the little fellow trying to figure out what I could have done to make him look more horsey-er. I apologize to all the horses for letting you down, I’ll try to do better. In the meantime, if you’d like to win a half yard of each of the donkey prints. Leave a comment. One random winner will be selected. Deadline to enter is next Wednesday, October 16th at midnight (CST). Happy Donktober! Thank you to ErinΒ for inviting me to participate in Donktober!

  39. First and foremost, your fabrics are so sweet and inspiring to me. YOU are the designer, and like when I design garments, there is no “rule” when we design! That is our choice! My mom always said that to me to keep me from getting stuck in a rut.
I think that if you were seriously worried about changing the look of the animal, perhaps the muzzle should be a tad smaller. Silly to me, I love them just the way they are!
    Keep up the incredible work!
    Thanks!
