folded little hearts

February 07, 2012

This past weekend I went to the Art Crawl here in Nashville. My favorite art was an art installation of what seemed to be a million pieces of tiny white paper folded into a massive wall hanging. It was breath-taking, similar to the work Sarah & Bendrix. Simple, modern and oh-so pretty. See more of her work here.

still lovin’ pink

January 30, 2012

My Mommy is so thoughtful. She bookmarks things out of her magazines to share with me when we see each other. She doesn’t really like pink, but knows her daughter well. (Come to think of it, I don’t think she has any pink in her closet or house, which is criminal really.) Anyhow. She gave me her Good Housekeeping magazine which had an article on pink. The only room in my home that has pink is my studio. But, I’ve decided to add speckles of pink in my bedroom as well.  Lots of inspiration in this magazine.

happy weekend!

January 20, 2012

If you follow me on Pinterest, you may have noticed I’ve been pinning a lot of home decor pictures. I’m trying to finish decorating my loft. (I’m 70% done, I think). I love the look of this space. So airy and cheerful. It looks like the perfect room to retreat to after a long week at work. Have a great weekend!

January 18, 2012

Donuts and cupcakes are something I wish I could eat every.single.day. Which do you like best? I’m pretty sweet on donuts these days.

snapshots from americasmart

January 17, 2012

I had a good time at AmericasMarts (with the exception of getting a headache that has lasted for four days. no fun).  I attended some great seminars, ran into friends, and ate good food. While walking the show, I was  surprised to see several exhibitors were there with products made from my fabric. I saw nap mats, dresses, baby blankets, play blocks, and much more.  Totally unexpected. I wasn’t able to take pictures of everything, like Bitsy (who’s booth was beautiful) and Swankie Blanket. But, here are a couple of products I took pictures of. It’s always fun seeing what people are making with my fabric.

join me at amber housley: inspired

January 05, 2012

I met Amber Housley a several months ago. I was really excited when she asked me to be a part of a workshop for creative women who currently have or are looking to start their own business. It’s going to be a great day, focusing on topics ranging from building your business from the ground up to covering all those daunting “How To’s.” (You know, how to pitch a story idea, how to use social media, how to attract clients, and the list goes on and on).  The workshop will take place Saturday, March 3 from 9:30 am to 4:30 pm in Nashville, TN. So, if you’re a designer, crafter, photographer, stylist, or blogger this is the workshop for you! Seriously, it’s going to be awesome! You’ll be sure to go home with a heaping truck-load of information for your business. For more detailed information, go here. Seating is limited, so register now.  {Scholarships are also available. Deadline is January 7th.}

GOOD THINGS

December 21, 2011

Good things come to those that wait patiently or something like that. Remember me talking about the bow ring I LOVE? Well, after many, many more trips to the store and trying the ring on, I just couldn’t muster up the cash to pay for the ring. So, I took some of you guy’s advice and started looking at thrift stores. This past weekend I went to Nolensville for some antiquing and thrifting. And wouldn’t you know, when I wasn’t even looking, my best friend found this sweet bow. It came as a bracelet, but I ripped the band off with my wire cutters to make a cute bow pendant instead. Isn’t it the cutest?

things i love about fall

October 25, 2011

Fall just might be my favorite season. It’s such a cozy season, wouldn’t you say? Here are 10 things I love about Fall:

1. It’s a bit chilly and you find extra warmth in a scarf, blanket or hat.
2. Watching the trees change colors.
3. Fall is like a trumpet announcing “The holidays are almost here!”
4. I can freely wear my cowboy boots without strangers coming up asking “Aren’t you hot in those?”  . . . apparently, some people are bothered when I wear them during the summer.
5. Pulling out recipes for soups and stews
6. The smell of leaves burning.
7. Candy corn is bliss. See here.
8. Taking long drives in the country
9. Running outside . . . I absolutely love running outside during the fall. I need a new running partner, anybody game?
10. White pumpkins. I like the orange ones, but white pumpkins are extra special.

happy weekend

October 21, 2011

I’ve started a new thing that I call  design-a-day. Sometimes I get pulled into other aspects of work and don’t get to actually sit down and design. So, I’ve been challenging myself to try to do at least one design every day . . . with no rules or clients in mind. I design just for the love it. Hope you have a great weekend!

random pretties

September 13, 2011

I’m having a very difficult time focusing today. My thoughts keep jumping from thing to thing. I think my brain is overloaded or something. I found these polaroids while my brain was in mid-air.

a happy kitchen

August 03, 2011

Wanna guess the dominate color in my house? You probably guessed pink, huh? Nope. It’s white, which really is the absence of color . . . so I don’t know if that counts. Anyhow. Huset has some of the happiest kitchen accessories. Maybe I need to rethink this white theme I have going on.
