I have a new free tutorial to share with you today. I worked with Andrea of Knitty Bitties to make these cute little baby booties. They’re made from my Remix flannel with coordinating solids. They would make the sweetest little gift for a baby. One of my dear friends just had a little boy, so I went over and took a couple of photos with him in the shoes. They were a tad big on him, as they’re made to fit 3-6 months. You can also download a written tutorial HERE.

If you’re new to the blog, you may not have known that my best color friend is pink. I decided it would be fun to design a quilt based around my love of pink, with my happy clouds on the back. There are about a million different shades of pink. But, I used the Kona solids card to pick out my favs. It was hard narrowing it down, but somehow I managed. Miracles do happen. A special thanks go Brooke for making the quilt. To make your own sweet quilt, head here for a tutorial.

These aprons remind me of my childhood. I’m not sure if it’s my new rainbow and unicorn fabric or the playful style of the aprons. Erica of the Kitchen Table did another great job. Head here for a free tutorial.

Today I’m happy to share with you these fun music inspired pillows. As soon as I designed my Beatbox collection, I thought it would be fun to have a boom box pillow. I worked with the brilliant Erica of Kitchen Table Quilting in constructing the pillow and writing a tutorial. She did an great job, wouldn’t you say? And after she finished the boom box pillow, she decided (because she’s awesome) to also make a cassette pillow. How cool is that! Get the tutorials here: boom box tutorial and cassette tape tutorial.
Not sure if you can see it in this picture, but Erica did a fabulous job with the quilting . . . the attention to detail is just perfect!

The cassette tapes is one of my fabric prints from the Beatbox collection. So, I was pretty excited when they made a bag out of it. The Robert Kaufman team worked with Amanda to make this cool messenger bag. Make your own with this free pattern.

Today I have a wonderful tutorial to share with you by Mandy of Fabric Paper Glue. I “heart” hearts. Seriously, I’m gaga over just about anything with hearts . . . heart sunglasses, heart rings, heart pillows, pants with hearts, heart shirts, and now clutches. There are lots of cute heart clutches out there. (Have you seen this one? It’s SO perfect!) Clutches are great for when you don’t want to carry a lot, but need something to carry your little necessities (i.e. cell phone, lip gloss, etc.). Well, I teamed up with Mandy to make this tutorial (she’s got a thing for hearts, too!) Head to Fabric Paper Glue for the tutorial. For an added bonus, I’m not only sharing a FREE tutorial, but I’m giving away one of the clutches. To enter simply leave a comment. A random winner will be selected on Valentine’s Day (Friday, February 14th). UPDATE: Congratulations to Jacelyn! You were selected as the random winner.

We made a bunch of these easy-to-make heart brooches for Valentine’s Day. They’re not perfect, but I like that about them. I think this would be a great tutorial for a child. We used my Remix fabric with Kona solids on the back. After making the hearts, I noticed that there are actually several things these hearts could be used for. You could make them into garland, a necklace or even a shoe clip . . . lots of options.
Here’s what we did to make the fabric hearts:
1. Select your fabric (at least 6 x 6 inches)
3. Lay the fabric face up on top of each other
4. Pin the heart template to both pieces of fabrics and then cut it out
5. Sew (1/4 seam allowance) around the edges of the heart leaving 3/4 inches at the bottom of the heart unsewn
6. Stuff the the heart with pillow stuffing
7. Sew the bottom part together
8: Hand sew a safety pin backing to the heart
9. Do a little dance with your heart!

Designing kids valentines cards is always fun!! Memories flood my mind of me as a little girl in grade school stressing about which Valentine’s Day card to send out. I didn’t want anything too mushy or anything that would have my classmates thinking I had a crush on them. Picking out my valentine’s card was SERIOUS business. So, I always keep that in mind while designing for kids classroom cards for Valentine’s Day. See all my cards here and may the force be with you!

Quilting with a Modern Slant by Rachel May is a new book that is just hitting book stores. The book includes interviews from the people from the quilting community, projects and tons of inspiration, not to mention there’s some pretty gorgeous quilts featured. There’s so much inspiration in the book and it’s really interesting to read the stories of so many people in the quilting community. Rachel interviewed me for the book and boy, was I nervous. My interview is found in the the “For the Love of Color” section . . . because I really love color. I talk about my “story” in starting Ann Kelle . . . which always makes me weepy (in a good way) Kelly made this AWESOME heart quilt for the book. She used kona solids and prints from my Remix collection. We sat in a coffee shop to discuss the layout and pick out the colors, fabrics, etc . . . I always like picking out the colors and prints. To read more about the book, head here or purchase one here . Thank you, Rachel for including me in the book. I’m quite honored.

Another fabric collection being released this month is, Wonder. I’m so excited about this fabric line! Wonder is a place full of happy. I’m a child of the 80s, which I’m sure has a lot to do with my inspiration behind this line. I remember loving unicorns as child, but I have to be honest . . . I’m still a big fan. This happy fabric collection ships to stores this month.

I’m so happy to share with you my new fabric collection, “Beatbox.” The inspiration behind this line comes from my childhood. My Dad worked for a radio station for over 30 years. He started out spinning records but went on to do everything from managing a radio station to being a radio talk show personality. Needless to say, we grew up surrounded by music and developed an early appreciation of music. As children, my sister and I played “DJ”. We had a microphone and would make mix tapes, which would include us introducing the songs, interviewing make-believe guests, reading the news and other silly antics. We also had a mini record player and a boom box, as well as a bunch of little musical instruments. I remember visiting the station (sometimes we got to be in the commercials!), going to concerts, etc. (The first concert I remember attending is Kool and the Gang when I was four.) Music was a huge part of my childhood and I’m honored I get to share this through my artwork. “Beatbox” is being released this month. This line features boom boxes, cassette tapes, and headphones. It’s available in two fun color ways.
Above are some of the records from my sister and my collection. I still have the huge box of the records we played as a kid.

My girls are back again for another adventure. This time as fairies! I think I’ve said this before, but I LOVE drawing these girls. They’re so special to me, so it’s an absolute honor that I was able to add another print. This makes print 4 or 5 (depending upon if you include Super Kids). See my other girl friends prints here: Mermaids, Ballerinas, Princesses, and Super Kids. This fabric groups ships to stores this month.
