My Happy Hobbies sure does come up with some creative handmade goods! Remember, this fun car wallet? Well, she also came up with a solution to keep our little fingers from freezing while eating freezer pops. Freezer pop cozies! So clever! Plus, there’s a magnet stitched in between the layers so they can be stuck on the freezer door. See more of My Happy Hobbies creativity here.

When I’m traveling my curling iron is always the last thing to pack. It’s usually still hot, so figuring out how to carry it is always a bit tricky. I came up with the idea to have a heat protectant holder for my curling irons. I carried a holder on my last trip and it worked perfectly. Brooke was kind enough to write-up a tutorial for you, which you can find here.

I found this cute little thing on ModCloth a month or so ago. Recognize the fabric? Yes, it’s my ladybugs. How awesome is that! My ladybugs look so happy on this dress. I never thought to make a dress for myself out of my ladybug fabric. They also made a dress from my strawberries. See it here.

A week or so ago I mentioned that I’ve been finding hearts everywhere. It’s true! I’ve found them in street, heart stickers stuck on the bottom of my foot, and random objects shaped like hearts. I have hearts (and the color pink) in just about every room in my house. So, it would only make since if I had this fabulous pixelated heart quilt. Kelly made this for me. I picked the fabric, but she did everything else. Pretty awesome, right? Another happy quilt to my collection. To make your own pixelated heart quilt, head to the Blue Elephant Stitches blog for tips.
I picked my Remix chevrons for the binding. However, the way Kelly cut the fabric, it looks like a Greek key pattern. So cool!

I couldn’t be more happier to share with you my newest fabric collection, Super Kids. I love super heros . . . I actually think each of us has a super hero in us. We’ve made a super hero cape tutorial, I’ve talked about them, and drew them. But, this fabric collection is here because of you. Initially, I had drawn these little characters for stationery. A couple of you mentioned I should put them on fabric. (Thank you, Brooke and Laurie!) So, we did. But, my collection wouldn’t complete without my girls. Girls are super heros, too. So, I drew them and a couple of other characters. I love this collection. It makes me giddy inside, especially the girls. Stores will be able to order Super Kids on July 3 and shipment to stores begins August 20th. So, be sure to tell your local quilt shop to be on the lookout.

Teething rings are another baby shower gift idea. Cwtch Bugs made these with a hard and soft surface to allow the baby to cut new teeth and soothe the pain in their gums. See more here.

Looking for a simple baby shower gift to sew up? How about some baby bibs. For these bibs,
Brooke used my Slicker fabric (laminated cotton) for the front and chenille for the back. It’s so soft and comfy with the chenille on the back. The Slicker fabric makes for easy clean-up. To make your own bib, below are some tutorials for you to check out. We used
Heather’s Bailey’s tutorial for the smaller bibs and drew out a larger bib template for the toddler size. See below for Brooke’s additional tips. It was super easy and took less than 45 minutes.
Brooke’s tips: I cut
the pattern out of just the laminate. Then lay the laminate bib piece, right sides together over a larger piece of chenille. Then using my walking foot, sew 1/4 inch seam, leaving an opening. Then I cut both the chenille and laminate to reduce bulk and make turning right side out easier. When top-stitching the bibs, I used a Teflon foot. After the bib is finished, I tossed them in a warm water wash and then into the dryer.

I’ve come across some really yummy fabric bundles that you’ve made. They’re so yummy, in fact, that I’ve decided to start a new column showcasing them. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that you’re away from the computer today and enjoying the holiday. Since I was away from the computer all last week (oops), I’m playing catch-up. While I was in New York, I stumbled upon lots and lots of inspiration. It’s such a great city. But, I wanted to live in the moment and really didn’t take many photos. I did snap the above photo in the cab on my way to the airport. This building was light up in red, white and blue . . . I added the pink. Anyhow, I’m glad to be back in Music City. Boy, Nashville sure did shine when I got home. There’s no place like home.

Flying kites was always a treat for me when I was a kid. It was always a sweet surprise when my parents took my sister and I kite flying. I remember going to an open field and getting so very excited when my kite was finally in the air. Based on these childhood memories, I came up with the idea to design a wall kite made with my fabrics. This wall kite is not only pretty to look at, but also has pockets for storage. Perfect for storing little accessories. Amanda Hall was sweet enough to write a pattern, which you can find here. A complete list of the fabrics used in this kite are listed below.
Fabrics used in wall kite:
– robert kaufman kona solids
– remix “spring” flowers
– remix “spring” dots
– urban zoologie “spring” birdies
– remix “spring” stripes
– urban zoologie “spring” butterflies

Aren’t these clever . . . and cute, if I may say so. They’re reversible + eco-friendly. Say farewell to boring white paper napkins and hello to cheerful fun nestled in your lunchbox. Perfect for picnics and everyday use as well.

I found this children’s sewing book, See and Sew, at a local store. I’ve been thinking a lot about children + sewing. It’s been on my mind for over a year now. I even sat down with my hometown sewing shop and talked with them about opening their doors to teach children to sew. I think it would be cool to see more kid sewing or craft camps. Anyhow, if your city doesn’t have sewing classes for your child, this book is pretty informative.
The other day I sat down and flipped through the book. There were lots of things I knew, but there were a bunch of things I didn’t know. I learned you’re not supposed to cut thread with you teeth because not only will it create a raggedy end which could be difficult to thread, but it could chip your tooth (I cringe everytime I think about that). I also learned what the purpose is for a thimble and how to use it. I learned never put a needle in your mouth. Basically, the entire safety chapter was good for me to read.
In the back of the book, there’s several sewing projects such as a drawstring bag, elf slippers, and sock dolls. Plus, there’s sweet illustrations throughout the book. Has any of your children read it? Do your children sew?

I have a major sweet tooth. I love sweets. You may remember my tribute to sweets in my fabric line Dessert Party or when I was trying to pick between donuts and cupcakes. Well, since I can’t eat a donut every morning, I decided to draw them. These donuts are a part of the Confections fabric collection and will be released this month.

Lookie at my new quilt! Isn’t it the most happiest little quilt you’ve seen? When I first saw the Retro Flower Quilt by The Sometimes Crafter I just about fell out my seat. It reminded me of Orla Kiely and you all know how I adore her. I decided it would be the perfect quilt for another favorite of mine, my Remix fabric prints. I worked with my friend Brooke to sew this beauty. She was so patient with me. All the prints used in this quilt are from my Remix fabric collection (listed below). Picking the prints and putting them in order was no easy feat, but Brooke was patient with me and allowed me to change my mind over, over and over again. (Thank you, Brooke!) It turned out awesome and now I’m a happy girl with a happy quilt. If you love this quilt and want one yourself, Christina is offering the pattern HALF OFF through May 5th. Another fabric that is being released this month are these fun guys, Fun Bots! I drew these bots several years ago. My inspiration came from a trip to New York. It seemed like a saw robots all around me . . . in the hotel lobby . . . even in a makeup commercial I saw during a cab ride. They were everywhere! So, I came home and drew them. Now they’re on fabric for you to play with.

Some of you may have noticed I redesigned my website and spruced up things a bit on my blog (and facebook!). It fits me much better. I knew I wanted a fresh look, but I wasn’t sure what direction . . . Breanna Rose helped with this. There’s still a couple of things I may or may not change down the road. But, for now, it’s done and it makes me smile. If you notice any glitches or things that aren’t working, please feel free to let me know.
